The Auburn football team returned to the practice fields Tuesday evening, working out in full pads for more than two hours on the Athletics Complex practice fields.

The Tigers continued to emphasize scout team work as the squad prepares for Saturday’s season opener against Arkansas State. The team also worked on all aspects of special teams and conducted individual and position drills early in the workout.

The story of Patrick Fain Dye cannot be told in one short article. In fact, Pat Dye wrote “In the Arena”, which is his outstanding biography filled with stories of his times growing up in rural Georgia and as head football coach at Auburn University. However, even an entire book doesn’t tell the complete story of the man known affectionately and simply as “Coach Dye” by the Auburn family. All I can do is try and tell you my story of Coach Dye and in some small way try to express what he has meant to Auburn.
